Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) Partners with Angola Cables to Connect their Cross-Border Networks to International Cables

The agreement signifies an important step in advancing telecoms and digital connectivity in Africa

Angola Cables, a global provider of network services and digital solutions, is teaming up with Camtel, Cameroon’s primary telecommunications operator, to enhance digital and connectivity offerings in Cameroon and the broader West Africa region.

This collaboration stems from a mutual desire to explore business opportunities in West Africa and the Atlantic area, with a focus on improving redundancy, network resilience, and service quality both domestically and internationally.

Leveraging Angola Cables’ extensive subsea cable infrastructure (SACS, WACS, and Monet) and robust backhaul network, along with Camtel’s South Atlantic Inter Link (SAIL), companies and organizations will gain expanded capacity options and improved access to West Africa’s local and regional networks through Angola Cables and Camtel’s Points of Presence (PoPs).

Fernando Fernandes, Country Manager of TelCables Nigeria, a subsidiary of Angola Cables, believes that once the necessary due diligence is completed, this partnership has the potential to revolutionize internet connectivity and data transmission in West Africa.

Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, CEO of Camtel, expresses the strategic aim to capitalize on Angola Cables’ strong backhaul connectivity and existing interconnections with other submarine cables in the region and beyond, to deliver flexible and secure value-added services for clients and businesses.
