Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has left social media buzzing after his interview with GhOne TV’s Serwaa Amihere, where he struggled to express himself in English.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was discussing the challenges faced by the party’s running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, when it comes to communication during the campaign trail.

Despite having attended the prestigious Prempeh College, Wontumi, who is known for his notoriously poor English, continued to speak in the language even though he appeared uncomfortable.
His attempt to communicate in English during the interview led many social media users to urge him to speak in Twi, his native language, as they felt it would make the conversation smoother and more authentic.
During the interview, Wontumi dismissed claims that NAPO’s communication struggles would hurt the party’s chances, stating that Ghanaians love NAPO and that his communication skills are not an issue.
However, it was his own struggle with the English language that became the talking point, sparking a flood of reactions online.
Many Ghanaians took to social media to express their amusement, with some commenting that it might be best for Chairman Wontumi to stick to speaking in Twi during future interviews to avoid further language mishaps.
