Charles III is King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. He acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving queen in British history and an icon instantly recognized by billions of people across the world, died on Thursday at the age of 96, Buckingham Palace said.

According to centuries of convention, her eldest son, Charles, 73, takes over as king immediately, ushering in a new, less assured chapter for the royal family following the queen’s record-breaking 70-year reign.

Charles III, Now King: He Is born with the legal name Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948.

Having held the title from 26 July 1958 until his accession. At 73, Charles is also the oldest person ever to assume the British throne. The record was previously held by William IV at age 64.

Charles to be formally proclaimed king: According to reports gathered by Townflex, Charles will officially be proclaimed as King on Saturday morning, September 10, 2022.
