Chelsea have finalized an agreement for the acquisition of Kendry Paez, a talented young player from Ecuador.

However, supporters will need to exercise patience as Santiago Morales, the director of Independiente, has confirmed that Paez will only join Chelsea in 2025.

Paez, who is currently 16 years old, will continue playing for the Argentine team until he turns 18, which is when he will be eligible to transfer to Europe.

This waiting period is due to the regulations that require players from South America to reach the age of 18 before moving to European clubs.

Chelsea emerged victorious in the competition for the midfielder’s signature, prevailing over other top clubs such as Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.

Morales confirmed that his club received offers from Premier League and Bundesliga teams, but ultimately accepted Chelsea’s proposal.

In an interview with El Canal del Futbol, Santiago Morales stated, “I can confirm that Kendry Paez will join Chelsea in 2025.

“We received offers from Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, but Chelsea demonstrated a great deal of interest.”

Chelsea is expected to pay a substantial fee, potentially exceeding £17.5 million, for the talented teenager.

Paez, who made a remarkable impact in Ecuador, is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in global football.

Despite being young, Paez has already showcased his skills by making six appearances for Independiente’s senior team, finding the back of the net once.

Moreover, he has been a consistent presence in the Ecuadorian under-17 national team, scoring five goals in 13 matches.

Ecuador has emerged as a hub for talent, with notable players like Moises Caicedo, Jeremy Sarmiento, and Pervis Estupiñán shining in the Premier League for Brighton.
