Chelsea confirm the signing of a “proven winner” on loan

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid has come into agreement to sign midfielder Saul Niguez on a loan deal in the last hours of the transfer window. According to the Blues, they have signed a “proven winner”.

However, the Blues were unable to make it a double signing on deadline-day as they failed to bring in Sevilla defender Jules Kounde to Stamford bridge.

The Spaniard joined Thomas Tuchel’s side on a season’s long loan with an option to buy for £30million next summer.

Undeniably, The 26-year-old is a versatile player who’s talents are best utilized centrally, which Chelsea promised to use him in his favorite position after Diego Simeone played him out of position in his previous season.

“Chelsea has promised me to train in my position, to play we will see,” admitted Saul.
“To return to certain customs that I do not do now, that is the most important reason for my decision.”
“I am very excited to start this new challenge with Chelsea. Blues fans, I am one of you now and I can’t wait to wear the shirt, start training and see all of you. See you soon!”’

The 26-year-old joined the senior team after progressing through the academy at Atletico, the midfielder helped his boyhood club win two Europa League trophies and the Copa del Rey before helping them to the La Liga title last season. The Spaniard has 19 caps for his country.

With the addition of Saul, it’s arguably the finest ensemble on the planet.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: ‘We welcome Saul to the club and believe he completes our squad as we compete for honours in five different competitions this season.

“He is a proven winner, a player with huge experience and we know he will be very well-suited to the challenges that face us on all fronts in the coming year.”

Thomas Tuchel’s midfield is already one of the world’s most elite packages. An addition of Saul, it’s arguably the finest ensemble on the planet. It won’t be easy to knock N’Golo Kante, Jorginho or Mateo Kovacic from their perch.

Saul Niguez is Chelsea’s third and final signing of the summer, following the arrival of third-choice goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Fulham and the club-expensive player Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.
