Tosin Adarabioyo, a defender for Fulham, is anticipated to sign a free transfer with Chelsea.

The 26-year-old is pending a medical exam for next week, but the Blues think they are nearing a long-term agreement with him. It’s believed that Adarabioyo is travelling to Europe to play.

There were reports that Newcastle and Manchester United were also considering the player. In April, former Manchester City academy center-back Adarabioyo turned down a chance to join Fulham’s highest-paid players.

After coach Bernardo Cueva leaves Brentford for Chelsea in a £750,000 deal to create a set-piece department, Chelsea hopes he can help them improve their record in both attacking and defensive set-pieces.

Trevoh Chalobah, a defender for Chelsea’s academy who is for sale this summer and has reportedly drawn interest from Manchester United, may leave sooner if Adarabioyo signs on.

This summer, 39-year-old Thiago Silva will also depart Chelsea to rejoin Fluminense, a Brazilian team.
