Chelsea keen on signing the French international Jules Kounde who has played 89 times for Sevilla during his stay in Spain. Chelsea are pushing harder to seal this deal but Sevilla demands for €80 million clause to be paid.

The Champions of Europe wants to offer a swap deal involving Kurt Zouma, which would see the Blues pay less cash to bring the Kounde to Stamford Brigde.

However, Sevilla doesn’t seem too keen to enter another swap deal with an English club after Spurs signed youngster Bryan Gil with Lamela going the other way for €25 million.. They insisted Chelsea pay Jules Kounde’s €80 million release clause or a fee of €45 million to accept a player in exchange for the French defender .

Chelsea have been quiet this summer transfer window, The Premier League club want Kounde as a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva and negotiations with Sevilla remain ongoing and possible as they look close to seal a deal for the central defender.

Jules Kounde has been a target for Premier League clubs, Tottenham were interested in signing the player but switched attention to landing Atalanta defender Cristian Romero due to the Sevilla defender’s insistence on playing Champions League football next season.

Last year saw Manchester City made an offer of €50million up front plus a further €5million in add-ons for Jules Kounde but Sevilla declined and are unlikely to have changed their stance on the player’s future.

The French defender has become a key part of the Sevilla defence ever since he joined the club in 2019. Kounde looked destined for a bright future at a bigger club and a move to Chelsea would be a perfect opportunity for the defender.
