Actor Christopher Keith Nii Attoh, better known by his stage name Chris Attoh, is well-known in Ghana. He recently spoke candidly about his intention to focus more on the Nigerian film industry.

The actor revealed in an exclusive interview with 3Music TV that he entered the Nigerian film industry due to its wider consumer base. He went on to say that there were greater prospects for collaboration because Nigeria has a thriving film industry.

If you wanted a larger market or an audience at the time, you had to be present in the Nigerian space. Ghana was fantastic, but the reality is that it’s a small country, so you have to reach out if you want to get players that are interested in more than just Nigeria.

“And Nigeria is producing films on a daily basis, so the country has numbers.” He remarked, “I always look forward to the times when we are working together rather than apart.

Speaking about the current state of the Ghanaian film industry and its lack of advancement, he bemoaned the absence of mentorship and direction for artists in the field, saying that he was not raised by the appropriate people who might have guided him in his development.

“I don’t believe the issue is a lack of desire to challenge ourselves. We didn’t have the best role models when we were kids. Nobody raised us and held our hands, guiding us, saying, “This is the way.” And it starts to weigh heavily on my heart,” he sighed.
