Sevilla dominated Manchester United in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final match, resulting in a 3-0 defeat for the English team.
The Reds drew the first leg 2-2 at Old Trafford, but were unable to recover from the early goal by Youssef En-Nesyri in the second leg.
David de Gea was at fault for all three goals, while Harry Maguire gave the ball away for the first goal having asked his goalkeeper for the ball in a dangerous area.
Youssef En-Nesyri’s early strike proved to be a body blow for United, who were unable to recover from the setback.
De Gea’s mistakes gifted Sevilla two more goals, including a header from Loic Bade and another strike from En-Nesyri.
Although De Gea will have to recover for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Brighton, Maguire is suspended for that fixture.
Despite the red-hot atmosphere in Seville, Christian Eriksen believes the team will be over their mistakes by the time Sunday’s game kicks off.
“It’s easy, every football player makes mistakes in a game,” Eriksen told BT Sport.
“Mistakes like this, they punish us straight away at this level, so of course, we had to take that away, but in the end, it’s how you bounce back from the mistakes.”
“I don’t think we were strong enough to bounce back from the mistakes we gave them. I think it will be easy [to bounce back], everyone who is a footballer has bad days, so the next day they will change that.”
“We know it will be a different opponent [Brighton], a completely different style, so we will focus on Brighton,” said Eriksen.
