CLASH OF FAVOURITES, Belgium vs. Italy in EURO 2020 Quarter-finals

EURO 2020 has reach its fierce quarterfinal clash between Belgium and Italy on Friday, as the both teams are favorites to lift the trophy.

Belgium and Italy are the fans favorites for this year’s title, each had a flawless victory, winning all their matches in the EURO 2020.

Belgium topped Group B with nine points, beating Russia 3-0, Denmark 2-1, and Finland 2-0.
Belgium eliminated EURO 2016 champions Portugal 1-0 in the Round of 16.

The Red Devils reached the quarterfinals in EURO 2016 held in France. Belgium and Italy were all in the same group, with Azzurri’s beating the Red Devils 2-0 in a Group E match in Lyon.

Italy topped the EURO 2020 Group A after three wins with nine points, beating Turkey 3-0, Switzerland 3-0, and Wales 1-0 in the group phase and did not concede any goal.

In the Round of 16, Italy barely beat Austria 2-1 in extra time to qualify for the EURO 2020 quarterfinals.

Italy were runners-up in both 2000 and 2012 of the European championships. The Azzurri’s were previously eliminated in the EURO 2016 quarterfinals by Germany 5-6 on penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.

Italy and Belgium head-to-head comparison
Italy has dominated as the Azzurri’s had 14 wins against Belgium in history.
Meanwhile, Belgium bagged four victories. The rest four games ended as draw.

Italy scored 43 goals but conceded 24 from Belgium.
The winning team will take on Switzerland or Spain on Tuesday, July 6 in the semi-finals of the competition.

The quarterfinal phase of EURO 2020 will kick off this Friday.

Switzerland host Spain in the first match of the quarterfinals will be held at Saint Petersburg Stadium in Russia, 16:00GMT

Whiles Belgium play host to Italy in the second match which will be held at the Football Arena Munich in Germany at 1900GMT on Friday, July 2.
