Renowned Nollywood actor and academic Columbus Irosanga, best known for his iconic roles as a native doctor in Nigerian films, has passed away.

His death was announced on Instagram on Thursday by veteran actress Hilda Dokubo.

Dokubo, expressing her grief, wrote: “There can’t be a shortage of angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport, Rivers State, Nollywood.”

In her post, she further mourned the late actor, referring to him as “Uncle Coli,” and added, “Ikoli eh dein na mu.”

Irosanga, a native of Okrika, Rivers State, was not just a familiar face in Nollywood but also a respected academic.

Beyond his contributions to the entertainment industry, he served as a senior lecturer at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Port Harcourt, mentoring aspiring actors and filmmakers.
