CoCUS received notification from the Ghana Police Service’s Accra Regional Police Command about an emergency Extraordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Ghana’s capital city on the same day, and asked the students to postpone their action for another day.

“These are all manipulations to ruin our good cause of campaigning for the typical Ghanaian university student,” the students said in a statement released on Thursday, February 3.

“However, as a strong team, we stay focused on standing firm and refusing to be compromised in any manner.”

The conveners hinted that they might have to start over.

“In light of this, the CoCUS has decided to postpone the demonstration until further notice.”

“All Ghanaian students, parents, and compatriots are invited to participate all stakeholders, including members of the general public, should continue to assist us in our struggle.”

Students marched to Jubilee House and Parliament to demand that the government address the issues of their professors, who have been on strike for the past four weeks.
