Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Portuguese footballer, has opened up about why he and his long-time partner Georgina Rodríguez, despite their nine-year relationship, have yet to marry.
In a candid moment during the first episode of the Netflix docuseries I Am Georgina, Ronaldo shared his thoughts on why marriage hasn’t happened yet, despite their growing family and strong bond.
The couple, who began dating in 2016, share two daughters together, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda, and Georgina is also a loving stepmother to Ronaldo’s three older children: Cristiano Jr. and twins Eva and Mateo.
But even with such a deep connection, the couple has remained unmarried, which has led fans to speculate about their future plans.
In the docuseries, Ronaldo shared that he and Georgina will get married when they feel a special connection, something he referred to as “that click.”
He explained, “I always tell her [Gio] that when we get that click, like everything in our life… and she knows what I’m talking about.
It could be in a year, or it could be in six months or in a month. I’m 1000% sure it will happen.”

Georgina, for her part, spoke about the constant teasing from friends and family about their wedding, mentioning the famous Jennifer Lopez song “The Ring or When,” which often gets played around her, adding a playful touch to the conversation.

“They’re always joking about the wedding. When is the wedding? But this is not up to me,” she said.
Despite the couple not having formally tied the knot yet, Ronaldo’s occasional references to Georgina as his “wife” have sparked rumors about a potential secret wedding.
One such instance occurred when he referred to her as his wife during an acceptance speech at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, which sent fans and the media into a frenzy.
It seems that, for Ronaldo and Georgina, marriage will come when the time feels right, and it will be a moment they are both truly ready for.
