American actor Danny Pintauro, best known for his role as Jonathan Bower on the hit sitcom Who’s the Boss?, has revealed he was hospitalized after a serious scooter accident on Thanksgiving night.
The actor, who also works as a producer, took to Instagram to share the details of his frightening ordeal.
Pintauro initially suspected a broken arm following the accident, but things quickly escalated when he experienced severe chest, stomach, and shoulder pains the following day.
Struggling to breathe, he was rushed to the hospital by his husband, Wil. There, doctors discovered that the actor had developed a life-threatening infection in his bloodstream, caused by a tear in his stomach.
In an emotional post, Pintauro described the pain as “the worst moment of my life” and “the most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt.”
Fortunately, Pintauro underwent emergency surgery overnight, which “went well” and brought him much-needed relief.

He also expressed gratitude toward the medical team who helped him through the crisis, saying, “If I had waited any longer, I could’ve died.”
Pintauro’s post was a mix of relief and thanks, as he acknowledged the critical care he received from doctors and nurses.
“This is my first major surgery, first emergency surgery EVER, but I kept it together,” he wrote. “It was absolutely terrifying.”
Despite the serious nature of the accident, Pintauro also shared that his arm was not broken, as he had originally feared.
Fans of the actor, who starred alongside Tony Danza and Judith Light on Who’s the Boss? from 1984 to 1992, have sent their well-wishes to the actor, who recently appeared in The Secret Life of the American Teenager and A Country Christmas Harmony.
Pintauro is now recovering and focusing on healing, thankful for the quick actions that saved his life.
