Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has started all three games this season well for the club. The goalkeeper has retained his post as Man Utd No.1 so far this season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is pleased with his performance.

Manchester United’s coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praise and hailed David de Gea as the best goalkeeper in the world and believes the Spaniard goalkeeper is back to his best at Old Trafford which means bad news for Dean Henderson as 2nd choice.

The rivalry between both goalkeepers for No. 1 spot last season saw Henderson finished the season in goal in the Premier League, but De Gea played in the Europa League final against Villarreal.

That night in Gdansk turned into a nightmare for De Gea, the goalkeeper was unable to keep out any of the 11 penalties he faced in the post before missing his own spot-kick to hand the trophy to the La Liga side.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said before the end of last season that the rotation in goal can not continue and he would have to settle on a No. 1.

“You need cover in every position. It’s a long, long season. We’ve been fortunate David has been fit and never really had injuries, touch wood,” he said.

“He called me over the summer, and asked about coming in earlier and having less holiday because he wanted to be ready. For me that was a great message that ‘I am here to fight, I’m energised, I have looked at my situation and will give everything I can to be the best David de Gea’.

“And we know the best possible David de Gea is probably the best goalkeeper in the world. He’s in his 11th season here, what a servant we’ve had, and with his energy, pride and desire we’re very pleased with him – long may it continue.”
Solskjaer insists there will be less rotation in goal this season and despite Henderson’s impressive displays this season it is De Gea who currently has possession of the gloves.

“You always want a settled first 11 and don’t need to chop and change your goalkeeper as much. When you’re a keeper, you don’t really run that much. It’s more mental energy with some physical,” he said.
“Last season was one for Dean to prove himself and he did really well and David has started this one really well.”
