Nigerian music continues to shine globally, and one of the names making waves in that evolution is Adeolayemi Oluwatosin Olabiran, better known as Dela. The Lagos-based singer-songwriter is not only redefining what genre-blending sounds like but is also building a unique identity rooted in passion, depth, and purpose.
Dela officially stepped into the industry in December 2022 through a feature on There Are No Rules to This, an EP by artist Emaxee. What started as a one-off collaboration quickly turned into a launchpad for her own artistry.
The “Solomon” moment
Just months later, Dela introduced herself fully with a bold debut — a two-pack single titled Dela, featuring “Solomon” and “Save Me.” The project showed her range and potential, but it was “Solomon” that turned heads.
That song didn’t just bring fans. It earned Dela recognition from MBA For Africa, a growing platform helping creative voices across the continent scale their talent. She followed up the success of “Solomon” with an alternative version, offering a fresh spin on a track already loved by many.
A proper introduction: Miosis
In November 2024, Dela gave her fans a deeper experience with the release of her debut EP, Miosis. The seven-track body of work featured a richer sonic palette, reflective lyrics, and a clearer look at who Dela truly is — not just as a singer but as a storyteller.
“I’m so proud of that body of work. I worked so hard, and I’m glad it’s out there,” she said. “I know it hasn’t scratched the surface yet, but it’s going to do big things for me.”

What’s next for Dela?
With Miosis setting the tone, Dela is now gearing up for acoustic releases. These stripped-back versions of her original songs will showcase her vocals and songwriting in a new light.
“New Dela!!! It’s different,” she teased. “The acoustic versions of my songs from Miosis drop real soon, and the new music is even closer than expected. I really can’t wait to see the world receive it.”
Dela’s ambition doesn’t stop there. Her long-term vision? “World domination.”
The woman behind the voice
Though her songs are filled with confidence and energy, Dela describes herself as an introvert who prefers clear, focused creative environments. She values authenticity and growth and surrounds herself with collaborators who help her remain grounded.
When asked what advice she would give to up-and-coming artists, she said:
“Pray, have faith, and keep working hard and smart. Don’t be afraid of evolution.”
In a fast-paced industry filled with noise, Dela is proving that slow, intentional growth still wins. Her journey is a reminder that when talent meets focus, impact follows.
