The 46-year-old, who is being held at the Arapahoe County Detention Center, is now charged with solicitation to commit murder and perjury in connection with an alleged plot to kill an Aurora police detective investigating the death of his wife, Angela Craig.

Police claim that Craig tried to get a fellow inmate to carry out the murder once in May and June 2023, and again in October 2024.

The detective had been crucial in investigating Angela Craig’s death, which authorities believe was caused by poisoning.

James Craig had previously been charged with the first-degree murder of his wife. In March 2023, he was arrested after Angela, 43, died from complications linked to poisoning.

Investigators believe James used potassium cyanide and arsenic, which he allegedly slipped into his wife’s pre-workout shakes.

Angela had complained of feeling faint and dizzy, leading to multiple hospital visits before her death on March 15, 2023.

An investigation revealed that James had been researching undetectable poisons, and evidence showed he had been in a relationship with a Texas-based orthodontist, which police suggest could have motivated the crime.

Craig allegedly planned to start a new life with the woman once his wife was gone.
