Detroit Woman Arrested for Stabbing Dog and Posting Footage to Social Media

A Detroit woman is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing her dog and sharing a video of the injured animal on social media, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Jordan Love, 29, was charged on April 9 with second-degree killing or torturing animals and abandoning or cruelty to four to ten animals. If convicted, she could face up to seven years in prison for the first charge and an additional two years for the second.

According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on February 7, when Love reportedly stabbed her dog multiple times. In the video shared online, she allegedly admitted to the act, claiming she did so because the dog attacked one of her cats.

Following the incident, Love fled Michigan, leaving behind three dogs and four cats in her Detroit home. She was later tracked down in Greenville, South Carolina, and extradited to Michigan on April 9.

Detroit Animal Control (DAC) officers were alerted to the situation on February 7, responding to reports of a stabbed dog at a residence in the 15200 block of Manning Street. Upon arrival, officers were forced to enter the home, where they discovered the dog in the basement with multiple stab wounds to its torso.

DAC officers also removed two additional dogs and four cats from the property.

Love’s extradition was secured on March 20, and she was arraigned on April 10. The court set a $50,000 cash or surety bond, requiring her to wear a GPS tether. Key court dates include a bond re-determination hearing on April 14, a probable cause conference on April 21, and a preliminary examination on April 28.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy emphasized the importance of animal protection laws in addressing such cases.

“The WCPO has always taken the abuse of animals very seriously. We have impacted legislation and have been proactive with the applicable laws—seeking and fighting to change them in many instances,” Worthy stated.

“Although we never really anticipated the alleged brutality and cruelty that this case represents, as a result of our earlier efforts, this case is a clear representation of why better laws were needed,” she added.
