Hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly survived another attack while behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, according to longtime friend Charlucci Finney.
Finney told the Daily Mail on Wednesday that the 55-year-old rapper and business magnate “woke up with a knife to his throat” during the alleged incident. He did not specify when it occurred but said, “I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came. I just know that it happened.”
The attack, Finney suggested, may have been an act of intimidation rather than an attempt to kill the Grammy-winning star. “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed,” he said. “It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him. It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”
Finney described Combs as “unbreakable” and praised his resilience despite the high-profile scandal that has rocked his music career and multimillion-dollar business empire. “He’s a lovable caregiver, a father, brother [and] best friend,” Finney said, adding, “I’m confident he’s gonna do whatever it takes to make sure he’s still Sean Combs when he comes out.”
Combs, founder of Bad Boy Records and a key figure in the global music industry, has been held since his September 2024 arrest on federal charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution-related offenses.
He was convicted in July 2025 of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and later sentenced to four years and two months in federal prison.
In addition to prison time, Combs was fined $500,000 and ordered to undergo counseling programs for mental health and substance abuse. His legal team filed an appeal last week in the Federal District Court of New York, seeking to overturn both his conviction and sentence.
The alleged attack raises new concerns about inmate safety and prison conditions at federal facilities, especially involving high-profile celebrities and entertainers.
