Family of the late former President, Jerry John Rawlings has come out to refute reports having it that the late president will be buried on December 23.
In our previous publication, we announced that In a press statement released by James Victor Gbeho, the Head of Funeral Planning Committee on Monday, November 30, says that the family together with the government has come to an agreement to lay the former president to rest on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020.
Secretary to the Agbotui family, Napoleon Kwame Agbotui on Wednesday, released a press statement confirming that the circulating December, 23rd, date for Rawlings’ funeral should be regarded.
According to his statement, it was made clear enough that there was no consultation with the family as claimed by the circulating report stated.

“Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings was not only a former President of Ghana but a Chief of Anlo under the Title of (TORGBI NUTIFAFA I). Ex. President J.J comes from a highly respected family and has lived up to that reputation and must be accorded that due respect and honour.” the statement reads.
Mr. Agbotui also pleaded with the presidency to ensure that the customs of the Anlos and the right procedures are duly respected. See the statement below for further clarification.

Jerry John Rawlings died on Thursday morning, November 12th, 2020. At the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a short illness, just a few days after burying his late mother.
Rawlings was survived by his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman, and his four children, three daughters; Zanetor Rawlings, Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings, Amina Rawlings, and one so; Kimathi Rawlings. He died at age 73.
