During a recent campaign event in Miami, Florida, Donald Trump stirred controversy by referring to January 6, 2021, as a “day of love.”

When questioned about the Capitol riot, he maintained that those who gathered in Washington, D.C., did so out of a belief that the 2020 election was rigged.

The former president recalled hosting a rally outside the White House that day, asserting that the crowd, which he claimed numbered in the “hundreds of thousands,” came to express their grievances regarding the election results.

Trump’s supporters later stormed the Capitol, disrupting the certification of Joe Biden’s victory.

In response to a voter who expressed concern about the aftermath of the election and the riot, Trump reiterated his stance: “Nothing done wrong at all.”

He claimed that the demonstrators were unarmed, contrasting them with “others” who allegedly carried firearms.

He portrayed the events of that day as a peaceful gathering that has been misrepresented.

Trump’s remarks come amidst ongoing investigations into his actions surrounding the 2020 election.

Special Counsel Jack Smith’s recent filings allege that Trump attempted to overturn the election results, including plans to declare victory regardless of the actual outcome.

Tensions with his former Vice President, Mike Pence, were also highlighted, as Pence refused to join Trump in efforts to challenge the election.
