VIDEO: Drake Makes Serious Accusations Against Billboard (See Details)

2 Min Read

According to Drake, Billboard modified its charting rules in response to the success of his massive double album Scorpion in 2018 and done so to help other artists.

Drizzy dialed in and alleged that Billboard had rigged the charts to reduce his dominance in a recent episode of Akademiks’ Off The Record podcast with “Her Loss collaborator,” 21 Savage.

Drake, for that matter, iterated as follows:

I mean, at the end of the day, ever since we were dunning off the charts from Scorpion, they fixed the charts anyway,” Drizzy said. “So it is what it is. You know, they had to give other people a fair shot.”

“We’ll do what we do. It’s more about the feeling, the momentum; it’s not about how long it stays,” the famous American musician iterated.

Well, Drake may not have been referring to a specific change, but Scorpion’s leadership caused Billboard to change its streaming rules in 2018.

When DSPs were first considered by Billboard, 1,500 streams were equal to one album sale; this number was derived from the customary click-through payment labels received from streaming sites.
