For some hours now starting from Tuesday, September 27, 2022 there have been multiple reports from individuals over challenges faced while trying to purchase prepaid credits for their electricity meters.
Well, some who went to the venders but couldn’t purchase were left with no options than to sleep in darkness, its now over 24 hours and the issue still remains the same and unsolved, which means this night as we, they will have to endure the heat and outage of electricity power for vision.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has on Wednesday, September 28th released a statement confirming the issue at hand.
According to the statement released on their various social media pages, they are currently facing a technical problem which is why their cherished customers are left unable to purchase electricity credit for their prepaid meters.
ECG is however assuring its customers, and the general public that their I.T team is ahead of the issue trying to arrest it and find solutions for it.
Areas affected by this technical issue includes; Volta, Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi, Tema, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Winneba, Swedru, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, and Tafo.

VENDING CHALLENGE WITH PREPAYMENT SYSTEM
The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited wishes to inform our cherished customers that due to a technical challenge which has affected our prepaid metering systems, purchase of electricity credit has been interrupted.
Some customers in the following areas have been affected; Volta, Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi, Tema, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Winneba, Swedru, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, and Tafo.
Affected customers should please note that our ICT team is working assiduously to correct the anomaly and restore the system to normalcy.
