The government of Equatorial Guinea has taken swift action to address a scandal involving over 400 adult videos circulating online, resulting in the suspension of several high-ranking officials. Link to leaked videos attached below.
The scandal centers on Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the director of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), whose private footage has stirred significant controversy.
Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced the government’s decision on Monday, November 4, 2024, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach to actions that undermine public trust in government institutions.
In a statement posted on his official social media, Obiang Mangue stated that all officials seen engaging in inappropriate behaviour, including in the ministry’s offices, would be immediately suspended.
“The Government will take severe measures against these acts as they represent a clear violation of the Code of Conduct and the Public Ethics Law,” the Vice President wrote in his tweet, translated from Spanish.
“This action is part of our zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that compromise the integrity of the public service.
Professionalism and ethics are at the core of our administration, and we will not tolerate irresponsible actions that damage public trust.”

The videos, which feature Engonga—who is married—engaged in intimate acts with several partners, including the wives of senior officials, were reportedly filmed within the finance ministry’s office.
The footage quickly spread across social media, prompting immediate response from authorities. Engonga has been arrested in connection with the scandal, though reports suggest that he will not face charges for the consensual nature of the affairs.
However, he is under investigation for possible transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
The suspension of the implicated officials marks an attempt by the government to restore public faith in its leadership and maintain ethical standards in public service.
The scandal has raised serious questions about the behavior of public figures and their responsibility to uphold the integrity of their positions.
