The long-awaited third season of Euphoria is finally in motion. HBO has confirmed that production has officially begun and has released a first-look image featuring Zendaya’s Rue in a dimly lit room, glancing over her shoulder.
The announcement was shared across HBO’s social media platforms with the simple message, “Euphoria season 3 is in production.” Fans of the Emmy-winning series have eagerly anticipated this update following the three-year gap since season two aired.
Several factors contributed to Euphoria’s extended hiatus. Coordinating the schedules of the show’s high-profile cast was one of the main challenges, as actors like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer have become increasingly in demand.
Additionally, showrunner Sam Levinson was occupied with his work on The Idol, another HBO series that received mixed reactions and was ultimately canceled. Reports also surfaced about tensions between Levinson and Zendaya during the production delay, which may have added to the hold-up.

While many details remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that Euphoria’s third season will consist of eight episodes. Zendaya revealed in a podcast interview last October that the new season will feature a time jump, moving the characters beyond high school.
Most of the main cast members, including Schafer, Sweeney, Elordi, and Colman Domingo, are set to return. However, Storm Reid, who plays Rue’s younger sister, will not be returning this season.
Euphoria Season 3 Release Date?
Despite production finally getting underway, HBO has yet to announce an official release date for season three. Given the timeline of filming and post-production, fans may have to wait until late 2025 or early 2026 for its debut.
In related HBO news, another of the network’s major series, House of the Dragon, also provided an update. During a recent fan convention in Orlando, cast members Matt Smith and Fabian Frankel revealed that filming for season three is already well underway.
