News reaching the headquarters of Townflex is that Samuel Eto’o, who happens to be the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has been given a six-month ban by the Disciplinary Committee of FIFA.
In effect, the ban prevents the former football star from attending any matches involving the Cameroon national teams.
This particular suspension comes after Eto’o was found to have violated Articles 13 (“Offensive conduct and violations of fair play principles”) and 14 (“Misconduct by players and officials”) of FIFA’s Disciplinary Code.
As a matter of fact, it is reported that the former football star violated these disciplinary codes during Cameroon’s last-16 match, in which they competed against Brazil, in Bogota, Colombia, on September 11.

Unfortunately enough, Cameroon lost the game 3-1 after extra time, with a penalty decision leading to Brazil’s equalizer.
In effect, this caused frustration within the Cameroon delegation, including Eto’o.
Fortunately enough, while the ban stops Eto’o from attending matches involving any Cameroon team, it does not affect his position as president of FECAFOOT.
According to the statement released by FIFA, the decision is effective immediately and has been communicated directly to Eto’o as well as the Cameroon Football Federation.
Meanwhile, this latest development follows a series of controversies surrounding the former footballer.
Similarly in July, Eto’o was fined $200,000 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for an ethics violation linked to a brand deal with an online gambling company.
Additionally, he has had various clashes with Cameroon’s sports ministry, notably calling the appointment of Belgian coach Marc Brys as the national team’s head coach earlier this year “illegal.”
Sadly enough, Eto’o, who was elected president of FECAFOOT in 2021, has now found himself at the center of yet another controversy that casts a shadow over his leadership in Cameroonian football.
