A Florida woman is behind bars after allegedly calling 911 fourteen times requesting a ride home and assaulting a sheriff’s deputy who tried to stop her.
According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Baylee Jordan Graham was arrested early Tuesday morning after deputies responded to a call from a McDonald’s restaurant in Gainesville. Restaurant staff had reported that a woman was refusing to leave the restroom.
When a deputy arrived, Graham initially gave a false name and remained uncooperative. After eventually coming out, the deputy allowed her to charge her phone so she could contact someone for a ride. Instead, Graham allegedly dialed 911 and asked dispatchers to send someone to take her home.
The deputy reportedly warned Graham that misusing 911 was a criminal offense and even offered to drive her home, but Graham refused to cooperate. Moments later, she allegedly called 911 again from a nearby Circle K, repeating her request for a ride.
Authorities say dispatchers confirmed that Graham placed a total of 14 separate emergency calls requesting transportation. Despite multiple warnings, she continued calling. When the deputy attempted to detain her, Graham allegedly struck the officer in the face, shouting, “Do not touch me” and “Get your hands off me, b—.”
Additional deputies arrived to assist as Graham resisted arrest, blocking the patrol car door with her foot. While being taken into custody, she allegedly told the deputy, “In any other situation, I would have probably killed you.”
Graham has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and misuse of the 911 system. She remains in custody at the Alachua County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
