Jennings, Louisiana – A Florida woman is behind bars after allegedly embarking on a multi-state crime spree that targeted several big box retailers along the Interstate 10 corridor, Louisiana authorities announced.

The suspect, identified as Teresa Webster, 56, of Boynton Beach, Florida, a city within the Miami metropolitan area was taken into custody in Jennings, Louisiana, a small town about 35 miles east of Lake Charles.

According to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, Webster faces a string of charges, including operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, and illegal possession of stolen goods.

Authorities say the arrest followed a July 29 crash on Interstate 10, where officers found a vehicle pulling a trailer overturned and its occupants trapped inside. Though the victims sustained only minor injuries, witnesses claimed Webster’s erratic driving caused the collision.

“Officers suspected Webster was under the influence of narcotics,” the Jennings Police Department stated in a press release. “She was detained at the scene, and a toxicology screening was conducted. Results are pending.”

Following the arrest, investigators obtained a search warrant for Webster’s vehicle, reportedly discovering drug paraphernalia and items believed to be stolen.

Police allege the investigation linked Webster to the theft of tools from a Home Depot in Slidell, Louisiana, and the theft of a Louis Vuitton handbag valued at approximately $1,350 from a Dillard’s department store in Alabama.

Surveillance footage from multiple retailers allegedly shows Webster’s involvement in a series of retail thefts along I-10, stretching from Florida to Texas.

“She has an extensive criminal history across four states, including charges related to narcotics possession and trafficking, retail theft, fraud, and possession of stolen property,” police added.

The investigation is ongoing, with Jennings police working alongside law enforcement agencies in multiple states to identify additional crimes connected to the suspect.

Webster is currently being held at the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail on a $12,500 bond.
