At the age of 82, Brazilian legend Pele has passed away, leaving one of the sports’ greatest legacies behind.

In light of this, his daughter announced his passing on Thursday.

Pele’s 21-year career has left him with an enduring reputation, and most people believe he is one of the greatest football players in history.

At Santos, where he spent the majority of his club career, he amassed 643 goals in 659 games over the course of 18 years.

And to that effect, he was the New York Cosmos’ representative between 1975 and 1977.Football legend Pele passes away at age 82

But it was his service to Brazil that really cemented his reputation as a legendary athlete and all-time great of football.

No player in the history of the competition has ever won it more than he did when he assisted the Selecao in winning the World Cup in 1958, 1962, and 1970.

Pele became the youngest player to ever win the World Cup when he won it for the first time in 1958 at the age of just 17 years and 249 days.

In the championship game, he also scored; no player younger than he has ever done so.

That was one of 77 goals scored at the international level, and Neymar is only two goals behind that total in Brazil.

Pele is hailed as possibly the greatest World Cup player of all time and donated his name and power to numerous charity causes after retiring.
