A Georgia mother, Ronica Jones, has been arrested and charged with the murder of her 1-year-old daughter, who tragically drowned in a bathtub.
Jones, who was taken into custody on one count of murder, faces serious allegations after the drowning incident on November 7, 2024.
According to reports from WSB-TV and Fox 5 Atlanta, the toddler was found unresponsive in the bathtub and was later pronounced dead on November 11.

Authorities claim that Jones left her daughter unsupervised in the tub, which led to the tragic drowning.
The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that the case is still under investigation, with further reviews and a follow-up investigation pending before a final decision is made.
The office also stated that the case will be presented to a grand jury for possible indictment.
Despite the charges, Jones’ family is standing by her. Her father, Ronald Jones, insists that the drowning was an accident.

Speaking to WSB-TV, Ronald explained that his daughter had been bathing her daughter when the child slipped and fell into the tub while Ronica briefly turned away to grab a towel.
“They know that she didn’t do anything to the baby,” Ronald said. “She loved that baby.”
It is unclear whether Jones, who has since been released on bond, has retained legal counsel. The investigation continues as authorities review the circumstances of the drowning.
