George Tickner, born on January 8, 1947, was an influential musician and a founding member of the legendary rock band Journey. While his name may not be as widely recognized as some of his bandmates, Tickner made significant contributions to the band’s early years before eventually departing from the group.

Tickner played a vital role in the formation of Journey in 1973, along with Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory, and Prairie Prince. He was responsible for co-writing several songs on the band’s debut album, including “Of a Lifetime” and “Mystery Mountain.” His guitar work added depth and texture to Journey’s evolving sound during their formative years.

However, after the release of their second album, “Look into the Future,” Tickner decided to leave Journey to pursue other interests. His departure marked a turning point for the band as they went on to achieve massive success and become one of the most popular rock acts of the time.
