A Chick-fil-A worker in Georgia, Shirley Obert, tragically died after surviving a car crash and then falling to her death while attempting to seek help.
Obert, 67, was involved in a single-vehicle accident early on the morning of March 29, around 7 a.m., when her car veered off the road in a forested area near Oxford Road and Abercrombie Road in Monroe County.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Obert was traveling to work when the crash occurred.
After the accident, she called her husband for assistance, but when he arrived at the location she described, he was unable to find her.

The sheriff’s office then launched a multi-agency search, which included efforts from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia State Patrol Aviation, Monroe County Fire Department, and other local responders.
Sadly, after an extensive search, Obert’s body was discovered around 11:30 a.m. on March 30, near the site of the crash. She had fallen into a deep well, surrounded by thick brush.
Authorities believe she may have been trying to find help when the accident occurred, but the details remain unclear. No foul play is suspected, and the sheriff’s office has labeled it a tragic accident.
“Our hearts go out to her family, her co-workers, and everyone who knew her during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
