A Kumasi Circuit Court has granted bail to the three Opoku Ware Senior High School (OWASS) students who were detained for participating in a robbery in Kumasi.
According to Abdul Razak Musah, the presiding judge of the Circuit Court sentenced the three alleged robbers each GH80,000 bail and five sureties.
Charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, and illegal damage have been brought against the suspects, who have been identified as Akwasi Adu Donkor, Owusu Appiah Raphael, and Asubonteng Osei Kwadwo.

After the bail was given to the three students, their case was postponed to be heard on September 1, 2022.
Meanwhile, the management of Opoku Ware school has confirmed to the Ghana Police Service that the three are students from the prestigious school.
According to a statement made by Agyemang Duah Bismark, the secretary of the school’s disciplinary committee, a group from the school led by the headmaster immediately verified the pupils’ identities at the police station when the news surfaced.

“When the boys were brought for identification, it came out that they were indeed students of OWASS. They were Akwasi Adu Donkor (BY 2), and Owusu Appiah Raphael (BY 664).
“The third suspect who had absconded was identified as Asubonteng Osei Kwadwo (BY 76),” he emphasized.
He then went ahead to clarify that:
“The administration observed that although the boys involved were pupils at the school, they committed the crime after school had ended and were supposed to be in their parents’ care.”
According to the report, the three accused guys were final-year students with a history of disobedience and had even been expelled from the school’s boarding house.
