While the GMA expresses solidarity with the movement, it stated that it does not have a defined roadmap for industrial action, leading to its decision to abstain from the strike.

In a press statement released on October 8, the GMA clarified that its members are expected to report to work as usual and continue providing full medical services.

The statement, signed by GMA President Dr. Frank Serebour, emphasized the Association’s concern about the negative impacts of galamsey on the country’s natural resources.

The GMA’s withdrawal comes as organized labor prepares for the strike due to the government’s failure to address demands regarding illegal mining activities.
