Hawa Koomson’s Son Stabbed Over Registration Dispute; Two Arrested

Ato Koomson, the son of Awutu Senya East MP and Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson, is being held by the Central Regional Police Command on suspicion of stabbing him following an incident. 

The incident happened on Sunday at the Ofaakor Electoral Commission Office near Kasoa. NPP members reportedly attacked one of the accused before handing him over to the police. 

Michael Addo, the constituency secretary for the Awutu Senya East New Patriotic Party (NPP), verified the event on the radio.

He said that he got a call early in the morning regarding a dispute about seating arrangements at the registration centre. Ato Koomson, my brother and close friend, arrived here before me. 

He called me and said that we should come quickly because the misunderstanding is becoming worse. He added that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) sought to sabotage the proceedings, as explained by Ato Koomson.

Mr. Addo said that Mr. Koomson was stabbed during the altercation despite efforts to keep the peace. We’re going to see this matter through to the very end and make sure that, in the end, everyone involved does what is right. 

Thus, we are pleading with the police to act quickly to guarantee that justice is properly carried out,” he continued. While in police custody, the suspects are cooperating with investigations.
