A brave 3-year-old Colorado toddler is being hailed as a hero after stepping up in the darkest moment to save his great-grandmother.
Bridger Peabody’s quick thinking and courage helped save his great-grandmother, Sharon “GG” Lewis, after a terrifying fall left her bleeding and unable to get up.
The incident took place last month when the two were returning home after a walk in the backyard. As they approached the porch, GG, who was using a walker, tripped and fell, hitting her head on a concrete step.
She was badly injured, with her forehead bleeding, but couldn’t get up to call for help.
“I fell, and my head popped open,” GG recalled, speaking to 9 News. “I couldn’t get up. I tried yelling, but no one could hear me.”
In a state of distress and unable to move, GG asked little Bridger to go to the car and retrieve her phone, even though it was dark outside.
Despite his initial fear, Bridger bravely accepted the task, whispering to himself as he walked through the dark driveway, “Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid.”

Bridger reached the car, found the phone, and proudly returned to his great-grandmother with the device. “Yay! I did it!” he said joyfully.
Thanks to Bridger’s actions, GG was able to call for help. She was taken to a hospital, where she received treatment for a concussion and 22 staples in her head.
Although Bridger might not understand the full meaning of the word “hero,” GG is sure of one thing: he is indeed her little hero. “He’s just a blessing,” she said, expressing her gratitude.
Bridger’s courage reminds us all that sometimes heroes come in the smallest packages.
