Tottenham Hotspur has secured the future of its star forward and captain, Heung-Min Son, by extending his contract until June 2026.
The 32-year-old South Korean international’s previous deal was set to expire this summer, leaving Spurs at risk of losing their talisman on a free transfer after a remarkable decade-long tenure in North London.
Son, who joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, has become a fan favorite and one of the Premier League’s most accomplished forwards.
His decision to stay with the club comes as a boost to Tottenham’s ambitions, as there had been speculation that other major clubs, including Barcelona, were eyeing a potential move for the striker.
In a statement released by the club, Tottenham announced that they have exercised the option to extend Son’s contract until the summer of 2026.

The club’s head coach, Ange Postecoglou, expressed his satisfaction with the extension, emphasizing that the goal is for Son to win silverware before his time at Spurs concludes.
“He’s already had an outstanding career at this football club,” Postecoglou remarked, adding, “The aim and ambition is to make sure he finishes his Tottenham career with some silverware.”
Son’s legacy at Spurs is undeniable. He is the top-scoring Asian player in Premier League history and is currently the third-highest active scorer in the competition, behind Jamie Vardy and Mohamed Salah.
With 169 goals in 431 appearances for the club across all competitions, Son’s impact at Tottenham is immeasurable.
This contract extension ensures that Son will continue to play a pivotal role in Tottenham’s future, much to the delight of the club’s supporters.
