Hopeson Adorye, the Director for Special Duties in Alan Kyeremanteng’s Movement of Change, has caused a stir with his dramatic move to take control of Kotoka International Airport.
Adorye’s bold action was reportedly aimed at preventing appointees of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from leaving the country following the recent general elections.
In a statement posted on social media, Adorye declared, “No government official is travelling from now. I am taking over the airport with immediate effect.”
This statement has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning the motives behind his decision.
Adorye’s move is being seen by some as a response to allegations of corruption among government officials, as well as speculation that certain individuals may be attempting to flee the country amidst potential investigations or prosecution.
The development at Kotoka International Airport has raised eyebrows, with many asking whether Adorye’s actions are legally justified and what kind of impact they may have on the airport’s operations.
The situation has quickly gained attention, not only because of the control Adorye appears to have asserted over a national gateway but also due to his controversial past.

Adorye was previously dismissed from the KIA VVIP section in 2019 and fired from his position in the National Security Secretariat in 2022, incidents that have shaped his reputation in the political landscape.
However, despite the controversy surrounding him, Adorye has found support from his wife, renowned Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty, who publicly expressed her backing for her husband and their shared values.
The situation is still developing, and it remains unclear whether Adorye’s actions will be met with legal challenges or further political ramifications.
