A devastating tragedy unfolded on December 27, 2024, when Darius Seay, 44, killed his estranged wife, Adriene “Kim” Seay, her brother Andrew, and their father John in a brutal shooting spree at their North Charleston home.

The violence, which occurred at 4:40 p.m., shocked the community and left a 5-year-old boy orphaned.

At the time of the shooting, the family was preparing Christmas presents for Kim’s young son. Darius had been arrested just the night before on an assault and battery charge, but was released on bond the following day.

Just hours later, he burst into the apartment with a gun, shooting his wife, her brother, and father before taking his son to another location.

Police later responded to the scene, where Darius surrendered the child and then tragically took his own life with an AR-15-style rifle.

The horrific act has left the family in mourning, especially the young boy who witnessed the murders of his mother and relatives.

In the aftermath, Kim’s family has vowed to raise the child, with her brother, David Childs, and his wife Kaeley now taking on the responsibility of caring for him indefinitely.

Kim’s family expressed their deep grief, stating, “We are devastated by the senseless murders of Kim, John, and Andrew. Our united focus is honoring their legacies through loving and raising Kim’s son.”

Darius and Kim had been married for nearly a decade but were in the midst of a divorce. Darius had filed for divorce in March 2024 after alleging that Kim had threatened him with a knife.

Their son had been scheduled to spend time with his mother during the holiday season, with shared custody arrangements set for the new year.
