Ghanaians have been told by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that the unpredictable power supply, also referred to as “dumsor,” that has been plaguing them recently will soon be eliminated.

The president clarified that the recent power disruptions had been stopped as a result of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) finishing up transformer maintenance.

“Problems pertaining to transformer maintenance have been fixed. Indeed, there was no load shedding reported anywhere yesterday, and the country’s electricity supply remained steady.Speaking at the Workers’ Day observation, President Akufo-Addo declared, “I am confident that the unfortunate era of dumsor will not return.”

His comments regarding dumsor follow calls from the general people for the government to either resolve the power outages or release an electricity supply schedule.

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) Secretary-General, Dr. Yaw Baah, is one well-known voice that has encouraged the president to act quickly to address the unstable power situation.

He feels that it is regrettable and unjust for Ghanaians to experience dumsor under the previous administration and to continue to do so under the current one.

In his May Day speech to the government, Dr. Baah urged, “It is regrettable that people have to experience dumsor again; please do something about dumsor now.
