AZ Alkmaar winger Ibrahim Sadiq has been called up to the Black Stars squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.

This marks Sadiq’s first senior call-up, having previously represented Ghana at the junior levels.

The Black Stars are gearing up for matchdays three and four of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, hoping to reinvigorate their campaign.

Sadiq steps in to replace Ibrahim Osman, who has been sidelined due to injury.

His inclusion comes as part of a late call-up for four players, following the injuries of some initially selected by coach Otto Addo.

Sadiq has made a strong start to the 2024/25 season, netting four goals and providing three assists in just eight appearances across all competitions for AZ Alkmaar.

His impressive performances have earned him this opportunity to represent the senior national team, following a solid track record with the Black Starlets, where he scored once in four outings, and the Black Satellites with three appearances.

Joining Sadiq in the late call-up are Michael Baidoo, Abu Francis, and Jonas Adjei Adjetey, all of whom will look to make an impact as Ghana faces Sudan in their first encounter on Thursday, October 10.

The team will then travel to Libya for the second match on October 15, as they aim to secure vital points in their quest for qualification.
