Bobrisky said, “I am a man,” in response to the judge’s question regarding his sexual orientation.

Once the sentence was announced, Bobrisky was placed under detention to complete his jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

On March 24, 2024, the day of Bobrisky’s arrest, the judge decided that the sentence would start.

Judge Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos, who oversaw the case, underlined the need to prevent others from abusing and mutilating Naira in the same way.

Bobrisky was found guilty after being charged with manipulating Nigerian currency in a number of instances.

Misuse of N400,000 at Imax Circle Mall in Jakande, Lekki; N50,000 at Aja Junction in Ikorodu; N20,000 at White Steve Event Hall in Ikeja; and an additional N20,000 at an event hall in Oniru, Victoria Island were among the allegations. These incidents all took place between 2022 and 2023.

Bobrisky was found guilty on April 5 after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a four-count indictment against him for Naira abuse.

The case of Bobrisky has spurred conversations on the value of Nigerian currency and the repercussions of misusing it.

His admission in court as he starts his prison sentence adds yet another level to the continuing discussion over his public persona and image.
