Indiana Woman Charged After Driving Over 100 mph in Crash That Killed Sister and 6-Year-Old Girl

Jourdan Hudson, a 23-year-old woman from Indiana, is facing multiple charges, including reckless homicide, after a deadly crash on November 23, 2024, which claimed the lives of her 25-year-old sister and a 6-year-old girl.

At around 7:58 p.m., the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to a crash in which two passengers were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims were later identified as Nalani Ella Ervins, 6, and Jaiden Samaria Marquis Newbolt, 25.

The driver was reportedly driving at speeds over 100 mph at the time of the crash, heading toward a birthday party with several others in the vehicle.

Investigators determined that Hudson reached a speed of 106 mph just before the crash.

Police said the vehicle, an SUV, crashed after Hudson attempted a turn on the highway, having become lost while following another car.

Hudson had initially told officers that her sister was driving, but later admitted to being behind the wheel herself.

In addition to reckless homicide, Hudson faces charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, and neglect of a dependent.

The bond for each charge has been set at $47,500.

The tragic crash occurred when Hudson’s vehicle was carrying three children, ages 4 to 6, none of whom were in car seats, according to police reports. Hudson and her sister had reportedly been arguing just before the crash.

A hearing date for Hudson is yet to be set as the investigation continues. The case has left the community mourning the loss of two innocent lives.
