Indonesia river cleanup: 11 kids drowned, 10 rescued

11 school children have been killed while 10 were rescued after going for a school outing to clean up a river in Indonesia’s West Java Province.

According to reports from Local officials, on Friday, October 15, 2021, 21 students lipped into the river out of 150 students from an Islamic junior high school who were out participating in the cleanup along the Cileueur river bank.

According to Deden Ridwansyah, the chief of the Bandung Search and Rescue Office said the good new was that the weather was very good and there were no rains to cause a flood.

10 of the students were rescued and sent to the nearby hospital following rescue attempts from nearby residents as well as the rescue team who used big orange inflatable rafts to search for victims.
