As we previously reported, Twumasi was apprehended by the police in a special operation launched after the shooting. He had been on the run since the incident.

On Tuesday morning, April 25th, 2023, Twumasi appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court and made his confession about what led to his action.

The prosecution document revealed that Twumasi used a service pistol to commit the crime.

The emotional Twumasi appeared before the judge, who asked him whether he had anything to say.

Though he was not allowed to plead guilty or not guilty, Twumasi said, “I have no intention to commit the crime; what happened is between me and God.”

Despite his statement, he was found guilty of murder and remanded into police custody. He is set to reappear before court on Tuesday, May 30.

What Happened on the Night of Event?

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that Twumasi was seen chatting with Maadwoa before shooting her.

Tragically, Maadwoa was also a mother. After the first two shots, she pleaded with Twumasi to stop, but he allegedly fired three more shots before fleeing the scene in a rickshaw.

The eyewitnesses claimed that they were unable to arrest Twumasi because he was holding a gun.

It is truly a tragic incident, and justice must be served for the victim and her family.

“After the first two shots, she was pleading with the guy to stop and he added three more shots before jumping into a rickshaw [a light two-wheeled passenger vehicle] to run away.

“Because he was holding a gun, we could not attempt to arrest him,” said the eyewitnesses.
