Japanese actress and singer Miho Nakayama has tragically passed away at the age of 54, just hours before she was scheduled to perform at a Christmas concert in Osaka.
Nakayama was discovered unresponsive in the bathtub at her Tokyo home, and local authorities are investigating the cause of death.
The beloved star, known for her roles in popular films like Love Letter (1995) and for her successful J-pop singing career, had posted a disturbing message on Instagram earlier that day.
The post included a piece of art by French artist Louise Bourgeois and a haunting caption that read: “I was so depressed for a few days that I could only talk to the friend I went with.”
Nakayama’s fans were left in shock as the actress had been looking forward to her concert.
However, when she failed to appear at the event on December 6, her team became concerned and went to check on her at home. Tragically, they found her unresponsive, and paramedics confirmed her death shortly after.
The police have suggested the cause of death may have been an accident, potentially linked to drowning, though they are still investigating.
