Rapper Jay-Z is taking legal action against prominent attorney Tony Buzbee, accusing him of filing a false rape lawsuit that has damaged the rapper’s reputation.
In a motion submitted to the court, Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, is requesting sanctions against Buzbee, claiming that the attorney failed to do basic due diligence before bringing the case to court.
The lawsuit alleges that Jay-Z and music mogul Diddy drugged and raped a woman after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) when she was just 13 years old.
However, Jay-Z’s legal team has pointed to several inconsistencies in the accuser’s story, suggesting that the allegations lack credibility.
One of the key points in the motion is that the accuser described the assault taking place at a “large white residence with a gated U-shaped driveway” located 20 minutes from the VMAs.
However, Jay-Z argues that photographs show him at the Lotus nightclub in Manhattan following the awards show.

The accuser also claimed that her father picked her up after the alleged assault, but Jay-Z’s legal team points out that the father has no recollection of this event.
They argue that the logistics of such a journey would make it unforgettable, as the trip would have taken 10 hours round trip.
Additionally, Jay-Z’s filing disputes the accuser’s claim that she watched the VMAs on a Jumbotron outside Radio City Music Hall.
Photos show no such screen was present, and the city had denied MTV’s request to install one.
The accuser also claimed to have spoken with singer Benji Madden at the afterparty, but Madden’s representatives confirmed that he was not even in New York City during the VMAs, as his band, Good Charlotte, was touring in the Midwest.

Jay-Z’s legal team argues that these discrepancies could have been easily identified with minimal investigation and that Buzbee’s failure to check the facts before filing the lawsuit warrants sanctions.
In response, Buzbee dismissed the accusations, calling Jay-Z’s legal team “desperate” and claiming that they were filing “meritless and frivolous pleadings.” He vowed that his team would not be intimidated.
