Jenna Fischer, best known for her role as Pam Beesly on The Office, has shared that she was diagnosed with stage one triple positive breast cancer in December 2023.
In an emotional Instagram post on October 8, Fischer revealed that after undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, she is now cancer-free.
Reflecting on her journey, Fischer recounted how her health scare began with a routine mammogram last October.
“Back in October of 2023, I posted a photo of myself on Instagram preparing for my routine mammogram with a joking reminder to ‘take care of your ticking time bags’ a la Michael Scott,” she wrote, referencing her character’s boss played by Steve Carell.
Unfortunately, the mammogram led to the discovery of a tumor in her left breast.
Diagnosed in December, Fischer underwent surgery to remove the tumor the following month. She expressed relief that her cancer was caught early and hadn’t spread to her lymph nodes.

However, due to the aggressive nature of triple positive breast cancer, she underwent a rigorous treatment plan, including chemotherapy starting in February and radiation in June.
In her post, Fischer shared the emotional and physical toll of her treatment.
“I lost my hair during chemotherapy, but thanks to some great wigs and hats with hair, I have been able to wait until now to reveal all that has been going on for me,” she said.
She is currently taking Tamoxifen, a medication used to reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence.
Fischer emphasized her decision to share her experience publicly, stating, “I hope that it will be a source of support to any woman who is going through this right now.”
She expressed gratitude for her support system, including her husband Lee Kirk, their children Weston and Harper, and her best friend and The Office co-star Angela Kinsey.
Concluding her message with a reminder for women to prioritize their health, Fischer quoted her character Pam: “Don’t skip your mammogram. Take it from Pam and her Pam Pams. Michael was right. Get ‘em checked ladies.”
