Country singer Jody Miller dead at age 80

Country music singer Jody Miller, one of Oklahoma’s earliest Grammy Award winners, has been confirmed dead.

According to reports gathered by Townflex, the multi-award-winning singer died on Thursday, October 6, 2022, in her hometown of ‘Blanchard,’ surrounded by her family.

This comes just few days after the music industry and country music fans were shocked by the sudden death of Loretta Lynn, who died at the age of 90

Jody Miller dead: The Grammy Award-winning “Queen of the House”, Miller, who was 80-year-old, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease seven years ago.

The star’s death was announced on her daughter Robin Brook’s music Facebook page, Middle-Sister Music.

“Middle Sister is sorry to announce the passing of Jody Miller this morning, music icon and mother of Robin Brooks.

“Please remember the family as they deal with this great loss.” she wrote.

She was signed first signed to Capitol Records after getting introduced to the label by actor, Dale Robertson, after Miller had begun her career in the early 1960s as a folk/pop singer, singing in the Los Angeles area and appearing on Tom Paxton’s television series.

She released her first album on Capitol in 1964 and had a modest pop hit that year with “He Walks Like a Man” in the US. It was a big hit in Australia, reaching No. 8 on the national chart.
