John Boadu, the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has challenged Members of

Parliament on the Minority side to try to create chaos in Ghana’s Parliament when it resurfaces.

Since the administration implemented the e-levy, there have been frequent conflicts between the Majority and Minority in Parliament.

Both sides of the house have opposing viewpoints on the levy, and the Minority has made it a goal to guarantee that the levy does not see the light of day.

John Boadu, speaking on Accra’s Neat FM, said the Majority will not stand by and let the Minority play the fool in the parliament this time.

He said “When they decided to take the Speaker’s seat I hope you saw what happened? They should go there and try it. If this is their thinking, a party that organized a coup are the ones to defend the constitution?”

The NPP General Secretary urged Ghanaians to condemn the NDC’s acts of violence, particularly the support of their General Secretary, who allegedly encouraged them to slap the Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Mr. Boadu elaborated further: “Did the constitution say if you are defending it, you should do it by slapping people? By dragging the seat of Speakers? by booting ballot boxes around, is that what the constitution says? If we are to allow this kind of behavior are we going to live in the country in peace?”

“Do you believe we’re being represented by knuckleheads? If they want to show us that they are males, and they say they are willing to do so… Even the constitution, which they don’t understand, and in which they believe they would remedy their faults with slaps, they should go ahead and slap and see what happens,” the general secretary emphasized.

“Do you suppose I’ll advise my MPs that if they get a slap on the right cheek, they should turn the other way? Is this the kind of leadership we’re talking about? You’ve lost elections before, but you’re not going to change,” he remarked.
